We are located in Middletown, Lake County--in the heart of California wine country, just 90 miles north of San Francisco and in the mountains above the Sonoma and Napa Valleys. Traveling just outside of Middletown you will find our renovated barn turned production facility, and if in Middletown you will find our quaint and comfortable tasting room.

Shed Horn Cellars is the vision of long-time Lake County resident and award-winning winemaker Michael Wood. For many years Michael produced wines for prestigious Lake County wineries. After years of training, gaining knowledge, and experience, he decided to pursue his own winemaking passion and his vision for Shed Horn became a reality. Being an avid outdoorsman, Michael found a name for his winery easily with the idea of the powerful elk. With his enthusiasm for the business and the assistance of his family, Shed Horn Cellar's started producing wines from the mountainous, wild, volcanic soils of our areas most esteemed vineyards. We are pleased with our history, starting with one 3 barrel lot in 2004, we have grown to more than 1000 cases annual production. Being a small producer, we only enter the three major competitions and are proud that we have consistently won gold medals and shown very well year after year.

We harvest only the finest-quality grapes from Lake County vineyards to produce wines with intense fruit and soft oak tannins that consumers will remember.

2007 Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon

This elegant well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon is laced with black cherry, boysenberry and a deep raspberry richness. It hints of chocolate and tobacco and finishes with a smooth delicate touch of vanilla oak and soft tannins. Pair this wine with your favorite beef dishes, grilled meats, and hearty pastas. $ 29 per bottle - club price $ 23.20 per bottle

2008 Lake County Petite Sirah

This Petite Sirah is dark purple in color with blueberry and dark berry aromas. This wine fills your mouth with delicious blueberries and soft cocoa. The vanilla oak and cedar compliments this well-balanced and soft tannin wine. Delicious on its own or will accompany any roasted, grilled or smoked meats, seared Ahi, Salmon, and spicy dishes. $30 per bottle - club price $24 per bottle

2010 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc

This Sauvignon Blanc starts with delicate tropical and citrus fruit aromas, the grapefruit and slight mineral flavors compliment the crisp juicy acid, and it finishes with a refreshing hint of lemongrass. This well-balanced "food" wine will stand up to some spicy foods, is excellent with seafood, a nice day, or your favorite light meals. $15 per bottle - club prince $12 per bottle

2009 Lake County Zinfandel

This Zinfandel is a fruit forward wine with flavors of ripe-raspberry, strawberry-tart, soft vanilla and creamy mocha. It is full-bodied and balanced leaving a lingering finish of white pepper on your palate. Try this Zinfandel with hearty stews, aged cheeses or pasta dishes. $24 per bottle - club price $ 19.20 per bottle

2010 Lake County Chardonnay

This Chardonnay is comprised of several blocks of premium grapes from Lake County giving it a multi-layered complexity. The aromas are tropical, melon, green apple, and vanilla with citrus-mango and creme brule flavors finishing with a rich-smooth vanilla oak. Enjoy this Chardonnay with creamy pastas, chicken and salmon dishes or your favorite cheesecake. $22 per bottle - club price $17.60 per bottle

2009 Lake County Non Typical Red Wine

Not your typical red wine, this wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Barbera, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah to make a unique blended wine that fills your nose with blue berries and spice and an opulent, voluptuous mouth feel of dark berry fruit, super texture and purity with a full-bodied finish. Pair with grilled meats, pastas, smoked cheeses, and comfort foods. $25 per bottle - club price $20 per bottle
